Backstage of the Seattle Times’ new WordPress blog

Lauren Rabaino has been working on a new project at The Seattle Times. The Today File is several different things, she explained in this slideshow to reporters. The highlights:

1. A home for breaking news.
2. A place for us to be more transparent.
3. A place for us to be more personal.
4. A way to use modern technology.
5. A place to freely experiment.
6. A means of disaster publishing.

Nice job of spelling out the details to coworkers, too, answering all of the typical reporter questions like “What is this about?”

In fact, she says the most common question became “Why aren’t all of our blogs on WordPress?”
